Haaaapppy Friday!
This week has totally flown by and I didn't realise it was Friday until this morning because it has been one of those weeks. Jesse got home on Monday evening after being interstate for work, meaning we missed the whole weekend it the rest of the week has just felt weird.
But nevertheless, it is Friday and the weekend is here and I will be totally glad to have a break from work because I have been stupidly busy! Here's hoping for a successful trip to TK Maxx, a few DIY projects and plenty of reading time.
But before I get to that, I've got to catch you up on our week!
Here's what's been happening in our world recently! >>
Recently Buying: Homewares from Facebook marketplace! I spotted this carousel popcorn bowl on Facebook marketplace for $10 on the weekend as well as a super cute candy bowl for $5 and immediately messaged the seller. Luckily she lived not too far from us so I headed over there to pick them up on Saturday morning and they were just what I wanted.
Why have I never looked at Facebook marketplace before?! This could be dangerous...
Recently Yelling At: Trixie. Who decided just after her bath that she’d rub her clean face in a dirty muddy puddle.... right in front of us. She literally looked me in the eye the whole time. Naughty dog!
She looks like she's lost the will to live here and that's because she realised that rubbing her face in a dirty puddle meant that she'd have to be brushed and dried off all over again, haha!
Recently Saying No To: A heap of sponsored posts. I rarely do sponsored posts on the blog because I’m constantly approached by brands that just aren’t the right fit or who’s products I just don’t like/want to recommend.
Recently Laughing At: Trixie, who hid away in her way too small house while I was cleaning the house last week. She never goes in when we try to make her (which we try to do because it’s hilarious) but apparently she thought that was a way to get away from the vacuum and mop.
Sometimes brands think that’s an opportunity to offer me more money, which irritates me because I wonder if other bloggers would take the money over being honest... and I know they probably do because I often see bloggers promoting things that you know they'd never actually use.
For me, blogging is not about money. Sure, I could make a business out of my blog - but could I sell or promote things I don't believe in just for $$$? No, I couldn't - because I value you.
When you do see a sponsored post on Southern In Law, it's because I actually love and use the products and want to recommend them to you. They're the kinds of things I'm already recommending to my friends/using in my home/buying every single week at the grocery store.
Let's just say, apparently this week was the week for low calorie ice cream - and your girl is not about that. If you're going to eat ice cream, please do yourself a favour and eat the real deal. It tastes better and it's not made with strange ingredients no one without a science degree knows how to pronounce.
Recently Baking: A bunch of recipes! Whenever Jesse is away I tend to get stuck into recipe testing and I perfected a bunch of recipes I can’t wait to share with you!
Recently Reading: ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL THE BOOKS! This week I read and LOVED 99 Percent Mine by Sally Thorne (such a great story!) and Maybe This Time by Jill Mansell which I loved too!
Recently Posting: This Gluten Free Gooey Chocolate Lava Cake Recipe for Two that you need to make ASAP! Soooooooooo good!
But tell me,
How has your week been?
What's the last thing you bought?
And what are your plans for the weekend?
