Thank you to ALDI for sponsoring this recipe!
I am definitely not a Pinterest/magazine worthy chef. You know that TV show on Netflix Nailed It, where people try (and generally miserably fail) to recreate ridiculous cake and pastry masterpieces? That’s what it would look like in my kitchen if I tried to create an incredible cake or culinary masterpiece.
But real, delicious food? That I can certainly do!
So when ALDI asked me to create some Halloween recipes for them, I knew I wanted to keep things simple. Why? Because simple is what I do and I want to make sure everyone can attempt these recipes and succeed.
These mini pizzas are a fun Halloween party addition that is perfect to make with the kids. I made spider pizzas, but you can use your creativity! Make spooky faces from pepperoni cut into eyes and mouths. Make a creepy eye ball pizza with a circle of mozzarella and half a stuffed olive in the centre. Make pizza mummies by adding two olive eyes and laying shredded mozzarella pieces down to act as bandages. The possibilities are endless, so have fun with them!
Also, a big thank you to my sister for lending me her mini Jack 'O Lanterns and Halloween decorations for these photos. I don't trust myself with a carving knife, and she's definitely more talented than I am.
But first, let me share how I made these! >>
Easy Halloween Mini Pizzas Recipe
makes as many pizzas that you like and can be gluten free, vegan,
clean eating friendly, nut free, egg free and dairy free
What You'll Need:
- Precooked Pizza Bases
You can use storebought or homemade pizza bases. My recommendation is to use whatever is your favourite. We'll use store bought precooked pizza bases when we're in a rush, or make YoDough pizza bases (1 cup self raising flour and 3/4 cup plain greek yogurt kneaded until smooth, rolled out and baked as you would with a normal dough) - Pizza Sauce or Pesto
We will use either a tomato based pizza sauce (crushed tomatoes with garlic, fresh basil, parsley and oregano and seasoned with salt and pepper) or my Nomato Sauce Recipe (tomato free!) with fresh herbs added. You can also blitz in some sneaky veggies or use your favourite pesto, The choice is yours! - Pizza Toppings
For these pizzas, I used pizza sauce, mozzarella cheese and olives to make the spiders, but as I said above, feel free to get creative! For the spiders, it's easiest to use pitted black olives.
How to Make Them:
- Preheat your oven to ~200C/390F and line a few baking sheets with baking paper.
- Take your precooked crusts and cut them into circles with a large circle cookie cutter (or scone cutter). Alternatively, you can make whole pizzas if you prefer!
- Top your pizza crusts with your pizza sauce or pesto, spreading to cover the base.
- Add your cheese on top, making sure not to add too much cheese or your toppings will sink!
- Top your pizzas with your desired toppings, making faces or spiders or whatever you fancy!
- Bake for 10-20 minutes, depending on size, or until the cheese is golden.
- Enjoy immediately or allow to cool and reheat later when it's party time! These can also be added cold to kids lunchboxes for a fun Halloween treat!
But tell me,
Do you have Halloween plans for this year?
And even if you're not, if you were invited to the ultimate dress up party tomorrow, who or what would you go as? Let's say creativity and budget isn't limited here!
