Well hey there! Happy Friday!
I'm pleased to say this week has gone a lot better than last week - and I have a lot to catch you up on.
So let's jump into it, shall we? >>
Recent Realisation: Driving distances is not my thing. We had to drive up and back to my grandmother's funeral and it took just under 5 hours and I was stupidly bored. We didn't stop in the middle so it was just 5 hours of trying to occupy myself.
At least on a plane you can read - but in a car that makes me queasy!
Recently Spending Time With: Family. Most of whom I hadn't seen in years. The reason we got together was sad - but it was good to spend time with everyone.
Recently Making the Most Of: Forster. It's a pretty boring place, but I made the most of it by heading out for a walk along the coast. I had no idea where I was going but I kept following the path along and looking on Google maps until I decided it was time to turn back.
Recent First World Problem: Seriously, this isn't even a problem... but lately a few things have been irking my perfectionist side;
- People who fold corners on books and then donate said books to secondhand bookshop which I then buy 😂 (I just can't with dog eared pages... I mean, you can use anything as a bookmark.. literally anything... why do you need to fold the pages?!)
- The thought of mismatching lollies at a lolly bar for our gingerbread house event
- The fact that this week I decided to write all but two days of the week's schedule in black pen in my planner - and yet I feel like white out would make it look even worse... The stupid thing is, I throw out the planner pages each week so it's not even a big deal, but when I look at it I'm like "WHYYYY"
And now I'm going to stop before you commit me to an institution.
Recent Sights: Cockatoo parties. They have been EVERYWHERE in our suburb lately. I walk out our door and they're busily eating the trees and bushes in our front yard, I walk to the park to find them waddling along beside me or in huge bunches in the bushes. Luckily, the ones in our area are friendly - not like the cockatoo on my birthday that bit me!
Recent Surprises: Beautiful flowers from a beautiful friend. I totally was not expecting them (so much so that I thought they were from my Mum) but these flowers were a thank you for helping her out with something that was no trouble at all - but it's so nice to be appreciated. I'm lucky to have beautiful friends in my life who I will happily do anything for - but who appreciate all that I do as well.
Recent Touch Ups: We're still working on that darn spare room. It's taking a long time because we've had so many breaks and mishaps (Hawaii for three weeks, a week off for my grandmother's funeral, a bunch of commitments, yadayada) but we're on the final stretch. We just need to add new powerpoints and a data point and put the desk parts together (each individual part is done - but the tops aren't attached) and then it's time to decorate.
But the games cupboard is done and good to go!
We hacked some IKEA Billy Bookcases which I'll have to show you later on - but for the moment, that's what we've got. A hacked Billy cabinet/bookcase with a table top on top. There's your mystical clue as to what's going on.
Recent Arrivals: Christmas is just around the corner and for us, that means lots of packages arrive on our doorstep. We recently received these gorgeous kids clothes from Purebaby that some of our favourite little ladies will look ADORABLE in - and Hallmark is making sure we don't get our tinsel in a tangle by sorting out our Christmas card stash!
Recently Trying: ALL THE RICE CAKES. Usually I'm not a rice cake fan, but I fell in love with these chocolate rice cakes and these kettle corn rice cakes in Hawaii so I've come home and bought ALL THE RICE CAKES to find a suitable alternative.
So far I haven't been able to find any sweet rice cakes in Sydney, so I bought these from iHerb. Apple Cinnamon, Cinnamon Toast, Caramel Corn and Mochi. So far I've eaten the mochi ones and they are LAME. It says "Mochi Sweet" but they taste just like plain salted rice cakes.... hmm...
Recent Sights: We also saw a whale in Forster! Just out at sea in the distance on the morning we left.
But tell me,
How has your week been?
What's your first world problem for the week?
And what are your weekend plans?
This weekend we're celebrating my cousin's 18th birthday, getting that room sorted, going to church and a meeting afterwards and then spending whatever free time relaxing as this girl is STRESSED to the max.
