Recent Things: Colour Coding and Hidey Holes

Well hey there! Happy Friday!

This week has been full on. So much so that I can't believe it's Friday because I don't feel like I've had a second to breathe.... but that's what the end of the month is like in my world. Busily getting things done for the month ahead.

But alas, I have a moment to breathe now.
Let's catch up on the week that was! >>

The One Hundred Year Old Man Who Climbed Out The Window and Disappeared Book Review

Recent Reads: Let's get the bad out of the way, shall we? This book was weird... so weird that it was awful.

I really don't know what the author was thinking when he wrote The One Hundred Year Old Man Who Climbed Out Of The Window and Disappeared - but it felt almost like every random idea that popped into his head was written in the story as it bounced from the past to the present day.

Colour Coding Books for Book Shelf Colour Coding Books for Book Shelf

Luckily, I have a gazillion other books to read. Most of which are currently on the floor in my office in loosely colour coded piles waiting for my new mega bookshelf.

On the weekend, my favourite local bookstore had a half price sale and that meant I picked up a heap of books for $1 each. Here's what I got;
and also a copy of Room by Emma Donoghue because I don't have a copy myself and I know a few friends who would be interested in it. That's how I justify my excessive book stash you see.... my friends borrow books from me and thus I have to keep all the good books for my own personal library. What do I do with the bad ones like The One Hundred Year Old Man? They go in the donate pile.

I'm currently reading Four Meals for Fourpence by Grace Foakes and it's fascinating. It's not a fiction and is instead Grace looking back on her childhood in the 1900's - describing the fear, unease, anxieties and distrust of the people of the time as well as their frugalness and ability to thrive despite all they had against them.

Face mask life

Recently Dealing With: Crappy skin. Hormones and my body are not friends - and I know that face masks aren't really going to do anything when the issue is hormone based - but I will literally try anything 😜

Room design sneak peek!

Recent Sneak Peek: Here's a little peek at our office reno. And yes, that's a Kmart peg board - but don't worry! It is NOT a Kmart office and it's not pale pink and grey and rose gold and marble and covered in contact.

But you'll have to wait and see.

Trixie finds a new sleeping spot

Trixie is a little disappointed I filled the bottom cupboard with things as she thought she'd found herself a new bed 😜

Lusting over IKEA kitchens

Recently Wanting: To live in IKEA. Or to have our house magically change shape/size so we can replicate their kitchens here 😜

A Very Sleepy Trixie

Recently Feeling: Tired... but not as tired as Trixie.

The last two nights we've had random thunderstorms in the middle of the night that last 0.00002 seconds (seriously, there's three lightning flashes, three claps of thunder and the storm rolls out) - but it's enough to disturb the dogs who then decide they have to lay right on top of us and take up all the room because they're scared.

Recent Flashback: Visa documents. It's hard to believe we first sent in Jesse's visa application FIVE YEARS ago.

This doesn't even give you an idea of how many pieces of paper and documents were involved!

Recent Posts: This week on the blog I shared my Easy Salami Spinach and Ricotta Cannelloni Recipe - as well as the next installment in our Hawaii travel posts; The Wild Side of Waikiki.

But tell me, how has your week been?
What's the best book you've read lately?
And what are your weekend plans?
I have a million and one things I want to do this weekend - but I don't know if I'll get a chance to do them. Tomorrow will probably involve a trip to IKEA and finishing the last bit of my office (putting my computer in etc etc) and then Sunday will probably be spent mostly at church as we have an open day and Jesse is running the big screen games. Why don't we have a three day weekend? Then I could get ALL THE THINGS done!
