Recent Things: Books, Blossoms and Board Games

Well hey! How are you?

This week has flown by even faster than usually. We were actually going to bed last night when Jesse said "Tomorrow is Friday.... Tomorrow is Friday.... Friday is tomorrow" and I was like yepppppp, I feel ya!

It feels like Sunday was 5 seconds ago and we're already almost at the weekend? Not that we're complaining because it means our trip to Hawaii is coming up reaaally fast - but we are hoping time will slow down while we're there!

But first, let me catch you up on our week! >>

Cherry Blossoms in Sydney

Recent Excitement: The cherry blossoms are blooming in our street and that means Spring is on it's way!

Recent Fun: Our first Not Quite a Book Club! I wasn't feeling too fabulous as I'd just accidentally glutened myself the night before - but I sucked it up and headed along (with a giant travel mug of ginger tea) and it was so worth it.

I am so lucky to have so many beautiful ladies in my life!

Before We Were Yours by Lisa Wingate

We are reading Before We Were Yours by Lisa Wingate - and what a surprise! I've finished it already and loved every second of it! SO so good!

I've never read any of Lisa's books before but she is an incredible storyteller and I know I need to read more of her books in the future!

Let's All Be Brave by Annie F Downs

Speaking of books, this week I also read Let's All Be Brave (in an afternoon - a very quick read) which the lovely Megan bought me for my birthday!

And I've been adding a bunch of books to my eReader before we go to Hawaii as my reading speed means a 3 week trip full of free time would also mean a suitcase full of books. So far I've got;

Busy Lives and Restless Souls by Becky Eldredge
In Shock by Rana Awdish (this one sounds interesting - the story of a doctor who suddenly becomes a patient when she is diagnosed with a catastrophic illness)
Head Over Heels by Jill Mansell (love Jill Mansell so I'm excited for this one)
The Identicals by Elin Hilderbrand (identical sisters who couldn't be more different in how they live their lives)

Any other book recommendations?! I need way more than that, haha! These were Netgalley ones but I'm happy to buy eBooks!

Trixie Snuggling Jesse

Recent Cuteness: Trixie has been extra snuggly this week. This was her snuggling into Jesse on Tuesday morning because he wasn't feeling well (poor Jesse had to go to the dentist on Monday and have an old filling drilled out and replaced and it was really deep and sore) - and then yesterday she woke me up because I'd slept in by coming in and burying under the covers next to me.

Jesse eating Hip Chips

Recent Snacking: On Friday our friends at Cobs sent us a hugeeee ol' care package of snacks and we've been falling in love with them ever since. SO MANY AWESOME FLAVOURS!

Disney Monopoly

Recent Gaming: This week we haven't been playing too many games as I was so sick on the weekend and we've been working late - but we did play two new games!

Monopoly Gamer which is totally not like normal Monopoly - you've got boss fights and power ups and Mario Coins instead of money and you  can buy more character tokens which each have their own special power up powers.

We also played Meduris which was good - but I think it would be much better with more than two people as playing with two people means you each have to do the work of two people (as the board is really set up to be a four player game).

We've got a game night with friends tomorrow though and have a bunch of games we're bringing along that we can't usually play with just the two of us so I'll have to share what we play!

Recent Excitement: Remember that room we were redoing?

Remember how you never really heard anything more about it after it was sanded and there were giant holes in the wall?

Well yeah, that's because nothing was done. We were totally overwhelmed by the patching and all these things we don't know how to do so this week, I put a post up on airtasker and found a tradie to come and do the job for us! He's starting on Monday so I'll have to give you an update next week as to what's happening!!!

I'm excited because it means once we get back from Hawaii, it's DECORATING TIME!!!!!

But tell me,
How has your week been?
What's the last thing that totally overwhelmed you?
And what are your weekend plans?
