Kristy's Random Ramblings #6

Kristy's Random Ramblings - Because life is too short to take yourself so seriously

It's Wednesday! That means I get to scribble out silly drawings and share all the random things I have on my mind.

Why? Because if I told my Mum she'd roll her eyes - and Jesse just thinks I think too much... so this is my chance to get random with you - and your chance to share whatever it is that's on your mind without judgement!
So let's get rambling! >>

Why do we laugh when tickled?

Have you ever wondered why we laugh when tickled?

I was thinking about it this week and I realised... the feeling of being tickled is totally not funny - so why on earth do we laugh?

At first I thought it must have been because you do it to babies all the time just to hear them laugh and thus maybe their tiny brains recognise you just want that reaction so you're essentially programming them to laugh.

Then I decided the only way to figure out whether that was true was to find babies and make sure they're never tickled (is that cruel? probably not because tickling isn't even funny) and then test them as adults but then........

Jesse burst my bubble.

He googled it and apparently you laugh because it activates a part of your hypothalamus that tells you to laugh. It's also the same part that tells your brain to expect pain so scientists think it may be some sort of weird defence mechanism.

Either way, tickling is really annoying so please don't tickle me unless you would like to die...... or just get punched... I'm not actually a murder because I really don't like blood.

How many times can you ask someone to repeat themselves before it is rude

Speaking of annoying, how many times is it acceptable to ask someone to repeat what they said before you become rude and have to do the whole awkward smile and nod and pretend you heard what they said?

I can't be the only one who does this, can I?

There's some people I speak to who I have absolutely no idea what they said, but after they repeat themselves twice and I still don't know I'm like (internally) "darn it! Now you've got to pretend like you know what they said, idiot".

So I walk away still having no idea what they said and hoping my made up version of their response at least kind of fits so I can get away with it.

It's like a really bad game of Chinese whispers, only it's not funny.

What did you just say?!

Speaking of what....

Why is it that people say "What did you say?!" when they know full well exactly what you just said?

Jesse does it all the time to me (usually when I'm being funny - or making fun of him) and I always say "oh nothing".

Why? Because without fail he'll say "you said -insert sentence-" and I'm like "well why did you ask what I said?"... that's usually enough to dampen his reaction to my original witty retort:P

But tell me, what has been on your mind lately?
What's the last thing you had to google?
