It's Wednesday and that means it's time to get random as my Random Ramblings are back! This week's ramblings have an unintentional birthday theme... but that's kind of inevitable when your birthday is just TWO days away!
But enough intro, let's jump right into it!
Here's what's been on my mind lately! >>
I was watching a little kid blow up a balloon on the weekend when I realised something...
Balloons are really weird.... and kind of disgusting.
I mean, why do we celebrate with a plastic/latex ball filled with air? And spit if a kid is blowing it up... That's not very festive.
Helium balloons are obviously better because they're not filled with bodily fluids... but still.... you're basically saying "here! have a plastic ball of chemicals! woohoo!".
And don't even get me started on the fact that they burst and pop and squeak when you touch them or rub them together... eek.
So um, FYI... maybe don't buy me balloons on Friday now that this is all on my mind :P
Speaking of birthdays, I know someone who hates when they find out that someone else shares their birthday... but really, when you think about it; 15 million people share your birthday... so it's not really that special.
Sorry to be the Debbie Downer, here :P
But apparently my body thinks I'm extra super special because every time Awful August rolls around, I find myself sick with the flu just in time for my birthday.
YAKNOW, it's therapeutic and stuff...
Apparently he never listened in science because he was looking at a reflection in a spoon and said "what! how come this side is right side up but the other side is upside down" and Kristy (the totally non science girl who struggled to get good grades because she found science hideiously boring) said "duh... concave... convex..."
And he was like "huh?" and I said "it's the same as your eye, only your brain turns the image right side up". He looked at me like I was crazy until I explained that when you actually look at something with your eyes, you're seeing that picture upside down (because of the shape of your lens) and your brain flips it right side up.
Mind. Blown.
Jesse then spent the whole day trying to figure out if he was the only one who didn't know and decided he could never look at the world the same again.
.... I did remind him though that the world isn't actually upside down as I think that's what he thought I was trying to say at first :P
But tell me!
What random things have been on your brain lately?
Were you a science fan?
All I can remember from science is light refraction,
