Hey sweet ones! It's Friday again and another week is behind us! This week has been full of ups and downs for me but I finally have Jesse home after a week away so I am super thankful for that - but let me share what's been happening in the SIL world this week! >>
Recent Need: Coffee, err'day ;P I've been so exhausted and even though coffee and tea don't seem to give me any extra energy (caffeine just doesn't work on me!), taking a moment to sit and be still and enjoy a hot cup of coffee or tea (in my favourite mug) is a must.
Recent Love: This grain free microwave cookie recipe that I'll be sharing with you tomorrow. It's seriously ridiculously good. The original version is paleo and refined sugar free, but in no way low fat or low in calories, however, I've also come up with a lightened up version for those who'd prefer it so I'll be sharing both versions tomorrow - just in time for Valentines Day!
That said - everyone needs to try the original version at least once - it's so worth every single calorie ;)
Recent Breakfast Loves: Custard Oats and Microwave Protein Cakes! I've been having one one day and the other the next as they kind of go hand in hand. The protein bakes need egg whites and the custard oats use up the leftover yolks in the most delicious bowl of oatmeal everrrr.
I'll definitely have to share the recipes for both very very soon!

Recent Health: Lately I've been dealing with extreme fatigue and circulation issues which we thought was my iron levels getting lower (as my haematologist was predicting I'd need another iron infusion this month), however, we found out that my iron levels aren't actually that low at all and it had to be something else causing all of the issues.
The main issue is extreme pain in my legs, feet, hands and arms - it's all muscular pain and doesn't actually go away at all, only varies in how painful it is. At night my feet go ridiculously red and then turn white when you touch them and I'm constantly feeling like I'm wearing socks and gloves. I was hoping that my umpteen million blood tests and ECGs that I've had recently would show something we could fix, however, yesterday I was given a clean bill of health as far as bloods go!
I am so thankful that there was nothing there - but also a little disappointed that there's no quick fix that we can see and frustrated that the search continues! Nevertheless, we're keeping on keeping on and pushing forward to find out what's going on!

Recent Workouts: Now, it seems a bit odd to tell you about my lame health and then follow it with my recent workouts, however, at the moment working out and staying active is the only thing helping. You see, most of the issues are relating to my circulation so getting the blood pumping is the only way I can relieve some of the pain. My doctor actually talked about putting me on a workout plan as she thought I musn't have been doing any exercise, however, when I explained what I do she told me to keep it up and keep moving.
As you can see, I'm quite active and eat a lot to keep up with how much I move. Everyday I walk for half an hour or so (though Jesse would call it wogging as I walk way way faster than the average person) around the park by our house - it's my me time and gets me ready for whatever the day has in-store.
At night, after dinner, I go for a quick walk around our neighbourhood to get my blood pumping before calling it a night - I find if I don't I wake up in the night with excruciating pain in my feet and legs so a quick 10-15 min walk is a must if I want a good night's sleep
Saturday: Walk + 25 min cardio + 20 min walk to a friend's house
Sunday: Walk + 25 min cardio + quick evening walk
Monday: Walk + 15 min cardio + 3 min abs + quick evening walk
Tuesday: Walk + 15 min aerobic + 5 min abs + quick evening walk
Wednesday: Walk + 30 min cardio/strength + quick evening walk
Thursday: Walk + 25 min cardio + 5 min standing abs + quick evening walk
Today: Walk + 20 min aerobic + 6 min abs + chasing after crazy children at Ignite ;P
Recent Favourite Thing: My Tangle Teezer! I've got a regular Tangle Teezer (in pink, of course), a Compact Styler (which stays in my purse) and a Splash (which stays in the shower) and I love them ALLLLLLLLLL! This girl has crazy thick hair that has a tendency to frizz but my Tangle Teezer keep my hair frizz free and fab! I've noticed that so much less hair falls out when I use my tangle teezers as they're gentler and I'm still amazed that it actually cuts through my ridiculously thick hair!
Recent Puppy-ness: Both puppies have been feeling like queens lately as I let them sleep in our bedroom over the weekend as I was home alone. Usually they sleep together in the laundry (as puppy tends to be a little mischievous), however, since Mum and Katrina got home Katrina has been letting them sleep in her room (as she was jealous that they got to sleep with me) so they haven't gone back to "their room" since!
Chanel is the perfect pup to have sleep on your bed as she just sleeps and that's it, but Trixie? Total nightmare. Every night she spent half an hour to an hour barking in the dark chasing her tail (her favourite toy) and then spent the rest of the night tunneling under our bed to find comfy spots to sleep (which then made me freak out when I couldn't find her at 5am only to have her crawl out from the middle of the bed like "Huh? What's the big deal?!"
Trixie also spends most of each day asleep either under our bed or by the side of our bed where she's pulled the quilt down to make what we like to call a "Trixie cave".
Recent Dinners: Last week Rhiarne asked if I'd share our weekly dinners and workouts so I thought I'd do just that! Often times Jesse and I eat different meals as I'm so limited in what I can have due to my allergies/intolerances (and I also like things that Jesse doesn't - like beetroot), however, this week as Jesse's been home after being away for a week we've been having the same dinners most nights and enjoying them outside together!
Friday: Ham and Cheese Pasta Bake, eaten outside in the playground of our church before our Igniters arrived (which was actually so nice at the sun was out and it was quiet out there for once so I had some time to relax and unwind before the craziness hit! :P)
Saturday: Chicken and Noodle Sang Choi Bao in lettuce wraps with tonnes of veggies cooked in
Sunday: Pumpkin and Feta Risotto
Monday: Beetroot and Feta Pasta for me and Prawn Spaghetti for Jesse
Tuesday: Socca Crust Pizzas with Ham, Cheese and Mushrooms
Wednesday: Sesame Chicken (pictured above) with brown rice and steamed/sauteed veggies (sharing the recipe soon!)
Thursday: Spaghetti with Roasted Eggplant, Zucchini and Feta Cheese
Tonight: Lean beef burgers on gluten free Purebred English Muffins (I just warm them up but don't toast them for a soft "bun"). This is one of our go-to quick dinners as we need to be out of the house by 5:30 ready for Ignite (and yes, we eat super early on Ignite nights because we don't get home til about 8:30pm and we would be hangry if we didn't eat until then!)

But tell me, how has your week been?
What's the best thing you've eaten this week?
And what food are you currently obsessed with?
Yay for coffee and mug cakes/cookies/breakfasts! I hope you start feeling better and figure out what's wrong! I haven't been feeling too hot myself...it is not fun to not be on top of your game :/
ReplyDeleteHey Maggie,
ReplyDeleteThank you for suggesting that! I'm definitely going to look into that as any lead is a good one!
I did have an ECG that was totally normal though - have you found that you have a faster than normal heart rate (tachycardia) as the name suggests?
I'm sorry to hear you haven't been feeling well either! Is it still the food poisoning that's the issue? Definitely go and see a doctor my sweet! xoxop
