Whilst Sydney has pretty great weather all year round, our summers are amazing. The sun is shining, the waters are glistening and the birds are singing.
Summer is my favourite season. It's usually the time of the year where I'm busiest and out with friends and family - and it's also the time of year where I tend to take a little extra time when it comes to getting ready as I love summer fashion. From my favourite denim shorts to pretty sundresses and floaty maxi skirts, I wish I could wear summer clothing year round.
In the spirit of the season, I thought it would be fun to share my top 5 summer essentials with you (and I would love for you to share your own in the comments below!)
1. Floaty Maxi SkirtsI cannot get enough of maxi skirts at the moment. In fact, I've had to stop myself wearing them every single day or people are going to start thinking I have nothing to wear ;P The longer the better and I'm currently loving Cotton Maxis which are light, flowy and perfect for warmer weather. Pair them with a plain singlet top and add a cute cropped jacket or cardi when it gets cooler in the evening.
2. A Great Pair of SunniesNo one looks good when they're squinting - right? That's why I think everyone needs at least one pair of awesome sunnies year round. I'm a big sunnies girl - they have to cover my eyebrows (I don't know why but I just don't like when you can see your eyebrows weirdly poking out over the top) and they either have to be black or brown - no weird funky colours for me!
3. Sexy Smooth LegsWhether you're wearing a bikini or your favourite pair of denim shorts, you want to have sexy smooth legs to match!
For a while, I was having my legs waxed at a salon, however, I soon got sick of having to fork over $60-90 an appointment and having my legs react to the harsh hot wax they used so I quickly gave up on that idea. Now I'm back to waxing though, thanks to Marzena's New Instant Roll on Gel-Wax which has been specially formulated for sensitive skin.

All you have to do to use the wax is roll it on using the mess-free applicator (I don't know about you but I'm hopeless with pots of hot sticky wax so this is a breeze), pop one of the reusable cotton strips on top, rubbing and pressing the strip down to ensure the wax sticks and then quickly zipping it off to remove the hair. Just be sure that your legs are clean and dry before starting and apply the wax in the direction that the hair grows, ready to remove the strip in the opposite direction.
Not only is it so easy to use - it doesn't leave me with stinging, burning red spotty legs - instead I have perfectly smooth legs with no irritation and I don't have to book an appointment!

But if you want an even easier solution for sexy smooth legs, Marzena also have these Sensitive Large Wax Strips which are perfect for taking with you on vacation or keeping around the house.
All you've got to do is separate the two strips of cellophane to get your wax strips, then press them down onto the skin (in the direction the hair grows) and zip it off to remove the unwanted hair (in the opposite direction). Easy peasy with no prep needed!

4. A Delicious Smelling Lotion
I don't know why, but I always tend to go for deliciously scented lotions and moisturisers during the summer time. I guess it's because I have more skin exposed so you can actually smell the scent. This summer, I'm loving all things coconut and vanilla and cannot get enough of scented body butters and lotions

5. Tinted Moisturiser
I prefer not to wear make up in summer, unless I'm out at a party or at Church on a Sunday, so I love tinted moisturiser. I always like to have one that also has SPF coverage as it's so needed with the hot Australian sun. Tinted moisturiser is super light on the skin but even outs your skin tone and gives you a summery glow.

But tell me, what are some of your summer essentials?
And waxing vs shaving - which side are you on?
My summer essentials are sunscreen (because I'm pale and always burn hehe), a cute hat, a light cardi and sunnies! I am going to try those sensitive wax strips as I used to use wax strips but found they really irritated my legs.
ReplyDeleteI'm the same as you, Allie - so definitely give them a try! xx
