Six Sentence Sunday: 30th November 2014

We've got a busy busy day ahead of us as we're celebrating (belated) Thanksgiving tonight with a delicious dinner and I've got lotssssssss of cooking to do!

Pumpkin Pies were baked last night (using our Healthy Pumpkin Pie Recipe - and mini gluten free pies using my Healthy Pastry Recipe!) and this morning I made some Healthier Snowball Cookies and Healthier Ginger Cookies and once I finish posting this I'm off to prep the veggie side dishes, green bean casserole, baked mac and cheese and everything else! Phew.

It's a whole lot of work, but totally worth it for the delicious food and my happy husband at the end of it!

Yesterday we put up our Christmas Tree and got out all of our decorations (so that we could put the rest up today) as well as put some extra lights on the outside of our house so it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas here.

Today we chose a new sponsor child through Compassion - a 13 year old teenager from Bangladesh, Tumpa, who we cannot wait to learn more about.

We're passionate about supporting older children as they are often overlooked - and often even more of need of assistance from organisations like Compassion as they're in such an important time in their lives.

But tell me, how has your weekend been?

  1. Sounds like a fun day!

So cool that y'all are sponsoring through Compassion! It's such a simple way to make a HUGE difference in a child's life!

  2. That food looks so yummy; I hope you had a lovely meal. It's great that you can learn about and celebrate different traditions from each other's cultures together and create your own memories. My weekend has been hectically wonderful and memorable: Friday night I accompanied a lady from church to an orchestral concert in the city; yesterday afternoon I found out that I am to be an aunty next year; yesterday afternoon I helped decorate my church's hall for our anniversary dinner celebration that evening; and today after church I went to hear my sister sing in her first concert as soloist with an orchestra. Phew!

I also think it's great you have a sponsor child through Compassion. It's amazing to connect with a child thousands of kilometres away, sometimes on the other side of the world, and support them financially, emotionally, and spiritually. Good on you. :-)

  4. We are so excited to get to know her! It's so awesome being apart of a child's life who is living in such a different situation to us - the best thing in the world is knowing how something so little for us can change so much for her!

I have always wanted to go to an orchestral concert - what an awesome experience and how exciting for your sister performing her first solo!

We are so blessed that we can sponsor a child - it's something I think everyone should do as it completely changes their lives!
