Why hello sweet peas! I don't exactly know where this week went as I think I left my brain somewhere on Monday and it hasn't quite caught up - let alone the fact that this is the final week of November?!
First of all I want to wish all of you Americans a very happy thanksgiving! We're planning on celebrating Thanksgiving this Sunday with a little dinner at home with friends (with all the traditional recipes!) and Jesse cannot wait for my pumpkin pie.
But let me tell you what we're been up to this week, there's lots to share! >>
Recent Puppy Loving: Well, Chanel and Trixie are officially besties! They play together, sleep in the same room, share beds and happily sit with one another. Sure they still growl at one another from time to time but progreeeeeeeeeeessssssssssss!
Recent Favourite Dinners: Baked Zucchini Flowers from our garden!!!!!! I stole a couple of zucchini flowers from the garden one morning (I didn't want to steal too many as I actually want to eat the zucchinis!) and stuffed them with ricotta cheese and fresh herbs and baked them as a side for our dinner. They were so so good!
But Jesse's favourite dinner this week? Steak. Always steak. I made a mean healthy creamy mushroom sauce which he's told me I need to share with you ASAP so I'll have to do that soon!
Recent Trixieness: As you can see, she's still as cheeky as ever and she's getting bigger by the second! Her fur is starting to change and her face is lightening up (compared to when we first got her). She's starting to find she can no longer fit in her favourite hiding spots and she's still digging holes (working on stopping that habit!) but we're still falling more and more in love with her :P
I mean, how could you not love that face?
Recent Garden Progress: Our veggie patch is still continuing to thrive! We have dozens of cucumber and zucchini flowers (though the zucchini flowers are harder to see as the plant has gone crazy!) and little baby cukes are starting to form.
We have baby strawberries and tomatoes and our lemon tree has gone mental with half a dozen lemons currently growing.
The corn is getting taller and our beetroot and carrots are getting bigger every day but the eggplant still hasn't really caught up (as it's kind of smothered by the zucchini plant). After eating home grown zucchini flowers this week, I cannnnnnotttttttt wait to eat the first vegetable grown in our garden.... actually... that's probably threatening... I really shouldn't say that too close to the veggie patch or nothing may ever grow.. :P
Recent Favourite Creations: I'm still working on Christmas recipes and this week I created two brand new favourites. On the left, Fruit Cake Pancakes/Christmas Pudding Pancakes which are seriously, ridiculous amazing and on the right, Healthier Panforte which I can not stop eating. The combination of chewy dried fruit, crunchy nuts and chocolate is insane and I cannot wait to share the recipe with you next week!
Recent Plans: We have lots coming up - our last "real" week of our youth group tonight (as the next week we have a week off and the week after we have a combined Christmas celebration with the younger youth group), Women's Gingerbread House Night on Monday at our church, the final weeks of Mainly Music, Christmas Carols, Christmas Parties and then Jesse's brother arrives mid next month so it's all systems go in the SIL house! We're also anxiously awaiting December 1st so that we can start our advent calendar!

But tell me, how has your week been?
Do you have any exciting plans for the coming week?
What's the best thing you've eaten this week?
We both picked mine, without realising it until he proposed! I had looked at the jewellers and found one that I fell in love with so I got them to write the details on a card. I gave the card to my partner, who barely glanced at it and threw it on the table. A couple of weeks later he went into the same jewellers to pick a ring, he found two he liked but alas he could only choose one. Little did he realise but the one he chose was the one I had fallen in love with only weeks earlier. I cried when he proposed, we had been together for 4 years and im impatient, but I cried even more when I saw that he had picked "the ring" without knowing it.
ReplyDeleteI am so jealous of your Zucchini blossoms! I want to cook with them so bad...but have never ever gotten my hands on any :(
ReplyDeleteIt was perhaps one of the reasons I wanted to grow zucchinis :P The flowers are SO expensive because they are so delicate (and because you sacrifice the actual zucchini) but they taste SO good! Surely whole foods might have them in the produce section?
ReplyDeleteOh what a sweet story! That ring was definitely the one!!
