As a toddler/little kid Mum, I know that toys and gifts can be overwhelming, expensive and also incredibly frustrating (especially when they play with them for 5 minutes and then never again) so this Christmas, I wanted to round up our tried and tested favourites to help you plan your Christmas gifting with ease.
This list is a mix of brand new toys, old favourites, stocking stuffers and top tier gifts your kiddos will love - and play with all year long.
So let's get into it!
Best Budget Friendly Little Kid Stocking Stuffers
Disney Doorables under $30
We love Disney Doorables in our house. They get played with every single day and Jensen cannot get enough. He'll make them houses out of magnetic tiles, use them in dollhouses and playsets, create little games with them, use them in sensory bins - the list goes on and on.
Better still? They're super affordable and a great stocking stuffer.
Our top picks this year?
- Disney Doorables Pixel Perfect Multi Peek Collector Set (available at Kmart, Big W, Amazon US, Target US and Amazon US)
- Disney Doorables Whatcha Gotcha Machines (available at Big W, Amazon US, Target US and Amazon US)
- Any sets with characters your kids love - Jensen loves his Encanto Set (also available on Amazon US) and has the Snow White Set ready for Christmas (Amazon US link)
Note: Disney Doorables are recommended for ages 5 and up, but you know your kiddo best. Just keep in mind they are small in size and may not be ideal for kiddos who like to put things in their mouths.
Budget Friendly Toy Cars
Toy Cars are the perfect Christmas stocking stuffer - and super affordable too! I often pick up Hot Wheels cars for $2 at Big W - and these Disney Cars cars were a great hit last year (Amazon US link)
Stitch Gift Ideas under $30
Stitch is having a serious moment - and with the live action Lilo and Stitch releasing next year, it's not ending soon. Jensen and so many other kiddos I know love Stitch, and there are so many cute (and affordable!) collectibles in stores right now.
- Disney Lilo and Stitch Bean Plush RRP $18 AUD (available at Big W and Target)
- Collectible Stitch Figure 5 Pack RRP $10 AUD or 2 Pack RRP $15 AUD (available at Kmart, Amazon AU and Amazon US)
- Disney Stitch Large Bobblehead Collectible Figure RRP $20 AUD (available at Target)
- That's So Stitch Collectible Figures Series 1 RRP $9 AUD (available at Target, Catch of the Day, Target US) Jensen's personal fave!
Minnie Mouse Gift Ideas under $50
Whilst Jesse is 100% team Mickey, my niece is 100% team Minnie - and there are so many cute Minnie toddler toys available right now. If you have a Minnie lover on your list, these are sure to be a hit!
- Disney Junior Minnie Mouse Sparkle and Sing Plush RRP $35 (available at Big W)
- Disney Junior Minnie Mouse Chat With Me Cell Phone Set RRP $22 (available at Big W)
- Disney Junior Minnie Mouse’s Bowfabulous Bag Set RRP $49 (available at Big W)
- Disney Junior Minnie Mouse Fabulous Fashion Doll Pretty in Pink set RRP $39 (available at Big W)
- Disney Junior Minnie Mouse Ring Me Rotary Phone RRP $35 (available at Big W)
For the Mickey lovers, Toymate have a bunch of awesome Mickey toys at super cheap prices (which we've bought for Jensen) but they're in-store only.
Get ready to race with Toot Toot Drivers!
We got Jensen his first Toot Toot Drivers set for his first birthday and he still plays with them daily two years later. This year there are two awesome new sets I know he is going to love!
- Toot-Toot Drivers Super Circuit RC Raceway RRP $99.95 (available at Big W and Target)
- Toot-Toot Drivers Disney Princess Enchanted Castle Slide RRP $39.95 (available at Big W and Amazon AU)
The Toot Toot Drivers 3 in 1 Raceway is also a great option at only $29 on Amazon AU.
Let's be honest though... the RC Raceway Set will be just as much a gift for Jesse as it will be for Jensen 😉
Combine Learning and Fun
I love toys that build skills and knowledge through play - and these are some of our favourite toys for 2024 that combine both learning and fun!
- Leapfrog Learn and Groove Jazzy Saxophone RRP $34.95 (available at Big W and Target)
- Leapfrog Musical Rainbow Tea Party RRP $34
- Leapfrog Pound and Pop Truck $39
- VTech Storytime with Sunny RRP $79 Jensen's fave!
ZhuZhu Gifts under $30
Jensen is pet obsessed - but definitely still way too little to be responsible for a pet, so that's where ZhuZhu come to the rescue 😆 They zip and zoom around and Jensen thinks they're absolutely hilarious.- ZhuZhu Aquarium Starter Set with Fish $25 on sale
- ZhuZhu Single Fish $10 on sale
Pokemon Gifts under $30
Jesse grew up Pokemon obsessed (and I also had a Pokedex back in the early 2000's 😆) so naturally, Jensen has grown up knowing Pokemon. Whilst he's too little for Pokemon Cards just yet, these Pokemon play sets and plushies are so much fun for any little PokeMaster.
- Pokemon Clip n Go Belt Set $29 from Target
- Pokemon Corduroy Plush $22 from Target
Squishmallow Gifts under $30
Jensen is COMPLETELY OBSESSED with Squishmallows and plushies - and now that he knows there are mini figures available, the obsession has only grown. Best thing of all? They are super affordable and incredible quality and they make an awesome budget friendly Christmas gift.
- Squishmallows 12 inch currently on sale for $10 at Kmart
- Squishmallows 12 inch Fuzzamallows currently on sale for $15 at Kmart
- Squishmallows 19cm Holiday Plush currently $10 at Kmart
- Squishmallows Squishalongs 14 Pack $25 at Target
